Make it possible to download automatically the cover art of all the albums in the list.
Great additional features to this would be :
- the possibility of chosing the minimum definition of the cover
- a pop up window to chose the right cover when there is a dispute
between cover arts
- the possibility to chose different databases : "discogs, last.fm, rateyourmusic, amazon, etc...)33 votes
Hi, do you also prepare a 64bit version?
PS: any possibility to rename files with simply ARTIST - Song.mp3 (like, for example, with Tag&Rename) ?
Can you adda the shell integration with the system? (ie when you right click a file Meatogger option to search for the file name)
Thank you! Great job, thinking about a donation!28 votes
When embedding a cover, enter the max width/height options of the jpg. If the image is larger than that dimension, size it down. If the image is smaller then leave it alone14 votes
I tried mettatoger, is a promising program, but intrface is annoying.
I would like to perform operations on selected files without the need to check.
Many times I changed the tags in the wrong files, because I forgot to do a "check and unecheck others" (maybe as an option)
Would do well to find the album, year and genree of the selected song.12 votes
I truly believe that this is the BEST tag editor except that it is missing two features that have kept me from using it full time. Metatogger needs an easy way to import tags from a text file. I use MP3Tag because it has that feature and it is a real time saver. It would also be nice if you supported the tagging of AAC files as well...
I'm testing a lot of music taggers in Windows and one thing they all lack is to add the original date of a recording.
When playing a greatest hits album of the 80s which was put on the market in 2005 you have a problem because suddenly all these 80s song have a date of 2005. see https://community.metabrainz.org/t/how-to-get-picard-writing-the-original-release-date-year-of-a-recording/355388
Luckily, I found a tagger (beets) that searches for the original date, but it is a command line driven approach.
I hope Metatogger can implement what they cooked togheter.

Metatogger is a WPF application. WPF is not available under Linux (even with .NET Core 3).
On OSX there isn't a software as good as Metatogger!
Could you please release a OSX version of Metatogger?6 votes

When asking to play something, it would be very intersesting to have the possibility to select a UPnP device if it exist on the network.6 votes
My collection is a mix of albums and singles (1-4 tracks). For an artist, I'd like to arrange the albums in a folder per album, but the singles in together in one folder. To achieve this, it would be helpful to identify 'albums' that have 4 or less tracks. I can group by album, which shows the count of tracks per group, so I'd like to be able to filter by the count.
Great bit of software, thanks!5 votes
introduce an optional move option once the file has been processed to another location to distinguish the processed from the unprocessed. Also, organising of files while moving might also help.5 votes
Gracenote has more Karaoke listings.4 votes
Gracenote database cannot be used freely.
I have noticed that music files with long introduction (starting) have less chances to be identified... is there a way to make the search based on a longer part of the music file?4 votes
Metatogger uses the Acoustid service for acoustic fingerprinting. Only the first 120 seconds of the song is used for computing the fingerprint.
You can read more info about the Acoustid server at:
You should include secondhandsongs.com for search4 votes
Please note you can always enter free text in the genre combo box.
