Unfortunately, the service used to identify files by acoustic fingerprint only returns reliably the title and the artist name of each track. Indeed, Metatogger cannot know the disk from which the identified track is extracted (single, album, compilation, etc.), making it difficult to retrieve the title of the album, year of release, etc.

There is no portable version of Metatogger because some important checks are performed on the system at install time, such as verifying software prerequisites, downloaded and installed if necessary (just the Visual C ++ Runtime in the latest version).
2021 update : with .NET self-contained deployment option, the system software requirements to use Metatogger are becoming less and less constraining.
Furthermore, the configuration file is stored in the user’s home directory, and not in the folder from which the software is launched. These files are only deleted when the software is uninstalled.
Using Metatogger in portable mode would not offer an optimal user experience.
